Maya Marshall

Maya Marshall earned her BA at Loyola University of Chicago and her MFA at the University of South Carolina. Marshall is the author of the debut full-length poetry collection All the Blood Involved in Love (Haymarket Books, 2022) and the chapbook Secondhand (Dancing Girl Press, 2016). 

Marshall lives in Decatur, Georgia and teaches at Emory University where she serves as the 2021-2023 Creative Writing Fellow in Poetry. She has also served as artist in residence at Northwestern University and as faculty for Loyola University Chicago. 

She has been awarded fellowships from MacDowell, Vermont Studio Center, Callaloo, Watering Hole, Community of Writers, and Cave Canem. 

Marshall is a cofounder of underbelly, the journal on the practical magic of poetic revision. She is an editor for Haymarket Books. For several years, Marshall served as a senior editor for [PANK]. Her writing has appeared or is forthcoming in Academy of American Poets’s Poets.org, Best New Poets 2019, Callaloo, Foglifter, RHINO, Potomac Review, Blackbird, the Volta, South Carolina Review, Fjords and elsewhere.
