This pop-up features t-shirts from the extensive collection of Kipp Dawson ‘94. An activist, coal miner, and educator, Dawson built coalitions for over sixty years in some of the nation’s largest movements for freedom and justice. Her astonishing career of intersectional activism stretched from the frontlines of the Civil Rights Movement and Vietnam anti-war movement, to the women’s movement, gay liberation movement, labor movement, and education justice movement. She helped to lead some of the pivotal and most famous sit-ins, rallies, and marches which led to crucial victories. Material from her work will be displayed as an installation inside of Haymarket House from 11AM-3PM.

We'll also have hundreds of books available—many in like-new condition, as well as some rare finds. It'll be an excellent place to stock up for yourself or as gifts for all the activists and organizers in your life! All proceeds will go towards supporting our programming work.

ACCESSIBILITY
There are a couple steps leading up to the front entrance on Buena. The ramp entrance can be accessed from the back parking lot, via Clarendon Avenue. The event will take place outdoors in the driveway and indoors on one level. All restrooms and hallways are wheelchair accessible.

TRANSIT AND PARKING
Haymarket House is located at 800 W. Buena Ave on the corner of Buena and Clarendon in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago. The 146, 151, and 36 CTA buses stop nearby. The CTA Red Line Sheridan and Wilson stations are each about a 12-15 min walk/roll away. There is free street parking in the surrounding area. Outside of school hours, parking for a fee is available nearby at the Walt Disney Magnet School lot at 4149 N Clarendon Ave. or the Brenneman School lot at 4251 N. Clarendon Ave, both are about a block away. Paid parking is also available through parking apps like Spot Hero.
